Well...perhaps I'm somewhat misguided...but I think some of the arguments I've been reading here by whoever is writing here and others but I believe that as long as thing are done right it doesn't matter where they come from. The devil would be very angry if we allow something the he's trying to do gets the best of us. Call it revenge if you feel that many of Christmas's customs come from pagan sources. Is Jesus a pagan source? I know that there are people that believe he is based on a sun god or something. Get up out of here! The devil is crafty, this is true. I do believe that Catholicism has the devil's work in it....I mean...since when is Mary a God, and should be worshiped? mary and Many other saints are prayed to and this just ain't right. You aren't supposed to put any god's before God. Idolatry is a serious offense. So am I worried about Christmas's customs? No...because God knows why we celebrate Jesus's birthday. You forgot that God, knows everything? Shame shame shame!

alfarooq,

I appreciate your zeal for what you believe is the truth. But I'm asking you to please suspend your comments for now. I've given you more than enough opportunity to state your case and promote your ideas. The excessive amount of comments and hyperlinks you've been sending could be considered spam, but I've allowed it to go through for now. In the future, I'll tackle some of the issues you have raised in a separate blog post on Islam. Until then, I will not be accepting your comments. Thank you for now, and look forward to the next set of conversations.

If you put Christ in Christians then they would be Muslims and believe as he believed, prayed as he prayed, live as he lived, and be alive in his actions...
Which body do you live in? clearly not in his image... and he is but the Meaaiah a messenger of the Almighty...

Find the truth... Follow the Book not mankind.

The Problem of today is mankind self and not the Holy Scriptures.
Believe as the true believers believed.

I get what you're saying. I also have just had a 'moment of clarity' (As alocoholics call it)

I don't know if the word "Christ" Is as important as the actions. We are called to be the Body of Christ, so to me, keeping Christ in Christmas would be more of us, as "Christians", not cursing over lost parking spots or not getting that gift.

Before we 'keep Christ in Christmas', maybe we could focus more on putting Christ back in Christians....

My two cents.

The True Meaning Of Christ-Mass

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They tell us that it is the season to be jolly. It is a time of ornaments, red and green decorations, silver bells, holly, mistletoe and colored lights. It is also a time of department store Santas calling out their universal mantra, "Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas." Nearly all of the realm of so-called "Christianity" join in and repeat this same greeting, "Merry Christmas!"

Although we hear these words constantly as they resonate millions of times throughout the land, almost nobody understands what they are really saying. It is the purpose of this tract to take the words, "Merry Christmas" and examine the true meaning and essence of those words.

A true Christian would want to examine everything they say, because Jesus said in Matthew 12:36-37, "But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." We will now set aside all of the customs, glitter and traditions of Christmas, which were taken from pagan witchcraft and popularized by the Roman Catholic Church, and we will focus on the true meaning of the words, "Merry Christmas!"

The word "Merry" is simple to define. It unquestionably means to be happy, joyful and light-hearted. The word "merry" fits into the ambience of laughter and frivolity. This word "merry" by itself is innocent and innocuous enough, but as we will now see, it becomes heinously blasphemous when used with the word "Christmas."

Here let it be noted that most people think that the word, "Christmas" means "the birth of Christ." By definition, it means "death of Christ", and I will prove it by using the World Book Encyclopedia, the Catholic Encyclopedia, and a book entitled, The Mass In Slow Motion.

If you are an honest, sincere and discerning Christian, please read on; if not, you might as well stop right here. The World Book Encyclopedia defines "Christmas" as follows: "The word Christmas comes from "Cristes Maesse", an early English phrase that means "Mass of Christ." (1) It is interesting to note that the word "Mass", as used by the Roman Catholics, has traditionally been rejected by the so-called Protestants, such as Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals and so on. The word "Mass" is strictly a Catholic word and thus, so is "Christ-Mass."

It would stand to reason, that since all of these denominations love and embrace "Christ-Mass", that December 25th is the great homecoming day, when all of the Protestants become Catholic for a day. It would seem that all of the so-called "wayward daughters" of the Romish church return to their mother, the scarlet harlot. Thus, all of the so-called Protestant churches could sing to the Pope that popular song "I'll be home for Christmas."

As previously stated, the word "Mass" in religious usage means a "death sacrifice." The impact of this fact is horrifying and shocking; for when the millions of people are saying, "Merry Christmas", they are literally saying "Merry death of Christ!" Furthermore, when the fat man in the red suit laughs boisterously and says, "Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas", he is mocking and laughing at the suffering and bleeding Saviour, who died for our sins. He does this while parents place their little children into his waiting arms to hear his false promises of gifts that he says he will give them. Consider what you are saying when you say "Merry Christmas."

What is so amusing about our Saviour's painful death? What is so funny? Why is Santa laughing? Why are you going along with it? Your words do count and Satan knows it. Yes, the word "Mass" does mean "death sacrifice", and to cement that fact, we will consider the definition of the inventors of the religious application of the word "Mass." I am looking at page 537 of the Catholic Encyclopedia, which says, "In the Christian law, the supreme sacrifice is that of the Mass." It goes on to say, "The supreme act of worship consists essentially in an offering of a worthy victim to God, the offering made by a proper person, as a priest, the destruction of the victim." (2) Please note carefully the word, "victim" of the Mass. The Latin word for victim is "Hostia" from which the word "host" is derived. The Mass, by definition of those who coined the word, is a sacrifice involving a victim. There is no other meaning for the word "Mass" or "Christ-Mass." On page 110 of a book entitled "The Mass In Slow Motion", we find the following words: "It is only with the consecration that the sacrifice of the Mass is achieved. I have represented the Mass to you, more than once, as a kind of ritual dance." (3)

In essence, the Mass is the ceremonial slaying of Jesus Christ over and over again, followed by the eating of his flesh and the drinking of his blood. The Mass is the death sacrifice, and the "Host" is the victim. This is official Roman Catholic doctrine, and "Christmas" is a word that they invented. Again, I ask, what is so merry about the pain, bleeding, suffering and death of Jesus Christ? Satan has done quite a job of getting millions of so-called "Christians" to blaspheme. What a deceiver he is.
Now you know the true meaning of the word "Christmas" or Mass of Christ. There is much more to know about this pagan holiday, and we will be glad to provide you with plenty of evidence that Jesus was not born on December 25th, and that Christmas is not only a lie, but is actually a witches' sabbat called "Yule" in clever disguise. Please contact us at the address below, and for the sake of your soul, flee from idolatry!

                                                                                                                                                     David J. Meyer

I'm pretty sure that what alfaarooq1 is describing happens every day. It's the result of a sin filled culture and has little to with Christmas other than the fact that Christmas generates more parties.
I've never heard of Mass coming from the word death. It sounds like an instance where the word does mean something like dismissal and someone stretched it to be a dismissal from life. Then someone takes the next step and just says the word means death. I don't know, though.
As for what this post was actually about...
I agree with the major premise. We cannot expect a culture that is increasingly secular to retain religious expression, especially during a commercial explosion like the Christmas season has become. So we should stay focused on our commission to preach the gospel.
There is a political side of the issue which is a completely different discussion, though we don't often treat it that way. But, outside of the political issues involved (freedom of speech, separation of church and state, etc.) this issue is little more than a symptom of secularization. That's the realization I think we need - the political issue is revealing a cultural problem; the cultural problem is the result of spiritual depravity. So which do we treat - the symptom or the virus?
Should we work to see Christ "kept" in a holiday or to see Christ received in a heart? (Man, that's a good one!)
Do we want to see Christ celebrated on Christmas or worshipped?
My only point is the best way (and I would say the right way) to see Christ kept in Christmas is to reach the culture that kicked Him out with His gospel.
With that said, I think that includes taking the secularists to task. They're starting the conversation. We have an obligation to respond, not for the sake of Christmas, but for the sake of Christ.
I also think that Christmas can be a means to two good ends: worship and evangelization. Last year was a memorable Christmas for me because I spent the whole month of December studying the Incarnation. The theme of Christmas is undeniably profitable, but it’s left to us to emphasize it correctly.
As for evangelization, what better time of year to randomly ask people, “what do you think of Jesus?” Granted, that means we must be ready for the conversation that follows. But isn't that our job anyway.
At the end of the day, Christmas Day to be exact, our war is not political, not cultural; it's spiritual. If that’s the war Christians are fighting, then let’s fight. The only other question I have is, what about every other day of the year?

Christmass is actually Christ- "Mass murder"
Think about it nicely... Just over this holiday period many people die because of drunken driving etc... some die because they got shot or stabbed due to getting drunk.
You find in todays time people use this as an excuse to drink and party, what I normally see happening each year this time is that people go to church drunk go home and try to get even more drunk they get involved with so much of sin, sleeping around etc...
This is the reality and is a fact, as a Muslim I would want to see your views on this because it is tuely a fact and it's happening every year.
I can simply set up my cam and record the events over this holidays and you'll be shocked...

Wow, you certainly give a lot to ponder.
I'm not sure about Mass meaning "death"; I thought it meant "dismissal" or something like that. But I agree that many of our customs at Christmas are derived from paganism and Catholicism. It's strange that sometimes we use the same arguments against Halloween but simply ignore them when it comes to Christmas. Then again, Halloween makes no attempt to be godly whereas Christmas can be done right, in my opinion, and bring glory to Christ. I think if we look at the origin as a factor in everything, we'd have to discard a lot more than just holidays. Some Christians won't say "God bless you" because of its pagan roots. I think it's rude not to.
But in any of these events, I think we can plead Romans 14:5,6:

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

It's interesting that the church at Rome was so diverse, and some members celebrated certain days while others did not. I'm sure those that abstained could tell you why they chose to do so. Yet, Paul doesn't say, "now listen here, here's what you can celebrate and here's what you can't." Instead, he urges all to be fully persuaded and act out that persuasion to the glory of God. So within Christianity there has to be room for those who don't celebrate Christmas and those who do. I think the majority, including myself, do celebrate it. But we shouldn't flip out when others express why they choose not to.

I'm also not so sure that Jeremiah 10:2-4 applies here, but I'm welcome to discuss it. There have always been attempts to explain the origin of customs and sometimes they differ. I've read an account of the Christmas tree that was entirely Christian in origin. I'm not saying it was true, but at least it's up for debate.

Thanks for your comment.
